The AV Club: You weren't an official cast member when you were on SNL, right? : I was not a cast member at all, ever. Just a writer, who just happened to be, you know, they stuck me in like a utility guy. They stuck me into little things here
He ranked second nationally in sacks with 14 and was second on the team in tackles with 77. Langhorst has been nationally recognized as a Preseason Third Team All-American by College Sporting News and Preseason Honorable Mention All-American by JB
The AV Club: You were not an official member of the cast when you were on SNL, no?
JB Smoove: I was not an actor at all, ever. Just a writer who just happened to be, you know, they stuck me in a utility guy. They stuck me in the little things here and there when they needed it. It depends on which character he was. They just threw me in there. You know, I went to cast, I was one of the few people chosen from-like, three of us left. Keenan Thompson, Finesse Mitchell, and myself were the three that have been tested for NBC.And these two got it, and I ended up back in LA Then they called me to see if I wanted to try writing. I said, "Sure, I'll give you a written test." I played a lot of people, I made a bunch of monologues, I warm up on the show, and while I was at NBC, I made many sketches Conan O'Brien . So I did several sketches on the Conan O'Brien show that I did SNL, actually.
AVC: You wrote for Cedric the Entertainer Presents, so you knew what kind of variety of sketch format pretty well, did not you?
JBS: Yeah.I was an actor Cedric the show, and then ... I had known that this kind of format exactly, so I'm working on Cedric was great, because I have a chance to make sketches. I had already done some sketches of the things Chris Rock Show as well, so ... I went to the Chris Rock show a couple of times. And also, when I went to Cedric, who was a bit like what I wanted to do was make some sketches, make some movies and things like that a bit. All I have ever done, basically, actually moved to the other. In a strange way, I was preparing for something, if I knew I was doing at that time or not. And with everything I have ever done.
AVC: With SNL at some point were you wondering if they were going to put you in the casting?
